Peptide Analytics

Peptides represent a unique class of pharmaceutical compounds because of their exceptional position in the chemical space between traditional small molecules and large therapeutic proteins. Peptides therefore became promising candidates for targeting ‘undruggable’ binding sites such as intracellular protein–protein interactions. However, inherently weak pharmacokinetic properties of peptides remain a challenge in peptide drug discovery. Hence, knowledge about physicochemical properties influencing important parameters such as membrane permeability or stability of peptides is of great value.

In our laboratory, we synthesize novel cyclic peptides and peptidomimetics including stapled helical peptides or cyclic beta hairpins. For peptide analysis, we use various analytical approaches like LC-UV-ELSD, UHPLC-UV, LC-MS/MS and LC-MSn
